About us

Passionate about rhythm!

We offer weekly Rhythm Tap classes for adults in Cardiff. Our classes focus on the rhythmical and technical side of tap, alongside a multitude of choreographies. Guiding each individual student through their tap journey, we ensure steady progress of your tap skills. Our tap routines are choreographed to a wide range of music. You'll get to tap to jazz music, rock, pop, and hip hop, to classical pieces, Disney songs, and other film music, or even to the Game of Thrones theme tune.

At Rhythm Tap Cardiff we believe that anybody can tap! If secretly (or out-spokenly) you've always wanted to be a tapper, then please join our tap family and let your heart beat to the rhythm of your feet! Our classes will offer:

  • A live class membership, or an online membership (see our memberships page for more info)

  • Personal tuition for every student in every class to help everybody with their technical skills;

  • Fun choreographies to a wide range of music;

  • Online access to the class's weekly content to help students catch up if they've had to miss a week;

  • Online videos of all our tap steps and choreographies to help students with their home practice;

  • Classes also run over the school holidays;

  • Improved body awareness, balance, and rhythmic skills;

  • A weekly full-body workout. Fun and sweat is guaranteed!

David Schönthal

Proprietor & Tap teacher

David learnt to tap in Switzerland from the great Maud Koch, Isabelle Glauser, Laura Gobeli, and Nicolas Egger-Spidlen. First moving to Wales in 2009, he continued his tap journey with teachers such as the wonderful Lee Farrow, and then founded his own little tap business in 2015. He is passionate about passing his enthusiasm and love for tap on to other people. With a keen eye for technical detail and a passionate belief that any music is tappable, he is opening up the world of tap to a growing family of tappers from South Wales. Next to tap, David is a researcher in linguistics and a cheesecake innovator and afficionado.
